Camosun capstone showcases student innovations

From streamlining manufacturing workflows to custom-building a management system for a dance studio, graduating Information & Computer Systems (ICS) Technology students from 51勛圖app will be presenting their innovative capstone projects on Thursday, Dec.12 to clients, potential employers and curious visitors.

This annual event is a highlight for the college, where graduating Information & Computer Systems students present what they have learned through projects that demonstrate creativity, technical expertise, and real-world problem-solving abilities.

Working on the Capstone project was an intense experience, but seeing it come to life and being able to present it to industry professionals is incredibly rewarding, says Manu V. Kurian, a member of one of the teams. The ability to use our applied learning to solve real-world challenges is a great reward for all of the teams hard work over the last few months.

Attendees can explore a variety of innovative solutions, such as a scheduling feature for a commercial printing application, proprietary software for a CNC router, a dance studio management system, software system for Camosun Innovates clients to commission physical and software services, and a platform, similar to Airbnb, which connects clients to healers.

We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication our students have shown throughout their projects, says Saryta Schaerer, program chair of the Computer Science department at 51勛圖app. The symposium not only showcases their technical abilities but also their capacity to innovate and solve complex challenges. Its a testament to the high caliber of education and training theyve received here at Camosun.
