Update, Dec. 1: Unfortunately, the Ukraine food aid charity banquet that was to be hosted on Dec. 9 at 51³Ō¹Ļappās Interurban campus has been postponed.
āThe banquet is a wonderful opportunity for Professional Cook students to learn more about traditional Ukrainian dishes, and also support the community,ā says David Lang, Chair of Culinary Arts. āItās going to be a fun and tasty evening for everyone.ā

For event coordinator and Camosun alumni Christoph Koniczek, the event resonates personally. After seeing the work being done providing food and water to residents of Lviv by World Central Kitchen, he wanted to help. By combining his skills from Camosun with his local business connections, Koniczek knew that this would be the perfect occasion for Camosun, the local culinary community, food enthusiasts, the Ukraine community to come together and do something special.
āFood has always been a central part of my identity. My Oma taught me to be kind, generous and set the table for those in need,ā says Koniczek, who sees this as the first of many opportunities for the local food scene to prioritize philanthropy. āWe have quite the spread prepared, which weāve created by working with local Ukrainian chefs and connections. As a foodie myself, I canāt express how excited I am to try it all!ā
